Dua puluh lapan
At times the best way to feel more content with reality is to look at the bigger picture. No matter how ugly things get, it will hardly even begin to scratch this beautiful and vibrant gift that we've come to understand as life. It is far too grand to even consider the things we try to do to destroy it. Scale it down and we see that each of us is just as hopeless, miserable and tired as the next person. Everything becomes trivial and that's what makes people sad and confused. If you zoom out just a little, suddenly it becomes clear that despite our imperfections, all are capable of doing extraordinary things that really can have a significant impact whether we realize it or not.
Currently thinking of things on a couch somewhere in England at 3 in the morning, I've come to a conclusion: the only epiphanies worth having are the ones you'll never need to share. Because who knows about the things that go on in our lives. In the mean time do everything necessary to achieve some sort of happiness. Make people smile, give to charity, meditate, consume. If it will at least make someone's life just a little bit brighter, then that's all you need to worry about. We never need to know who or what makes us strive and carry on doing good, although we really should remind ourselves that all the good we do counts and is never trivial.
This brings me to my final point. Imagine if you had a robot capable of making the world more peaceful. It can unite countries, eliminate poverty and violence, and establish justice and equality for all. People will no longer kill or hate because there won't be a reason to. The only thing left to do is to indulge in the harmony. There is only one problem though, and it goes back to the first sentence of this post. There is no such robot. There is only you. There is only you and reality.
I'm sorry baby :(
